flows
within some of us
like blood in our veins
a DNA
determining function, form—
the foundation for faith
it is
the genetic, biologic
reminder in code
you cannot outgrow
overdevelop
underestimate
the way it warms
under the skin
the way it warns
of hurt as it has been
hurt
left
alone
inside
staying skin-deep
and sheltered.
